Unemployed Workers
- Temporary WorkForce Center in Rushford. DEED and Workforce Development Inc., Rochester, have set up a temporary WorkForce Center in the Mallard Seed Building, 905 Enterprise Drive in Rushford. Services provided are for Disaster Unemployment Insurance, Dislocated Worker Services and the National Emergency Grant for temporary employment. For assistance, call 507-864-4193.
- Disaster Unemployment Insurance is identified as flood related regular Unemployment Insurance. As of March 8, 2008, $110,801 had been paid to 49 people. For assistance, contact www.uimn.org/
- National Emergency Grant (NEG) creates temporary employment to assist with clean-up, restoration activities and humanitarian assistance to communities affected by disaster. A NEG lasts six months, and can provide up to $12,000 in wages to each eligible individual. As of Feb. 29, 2008, more than $914,772 had been disbursed to 61 people. For assistance, call 507-864-4193.
- Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is intended to help unemployed workers and unemployed self-employed individuals who are unable to work as a direct result of a major disaster, and if the individual is not eligible for other unemployment insurance benefits. The maximum DUA weekly benefit amount ranges from $168 to $538. As of March 31, 2008, $176,695 had been paid out to 55 people. Applications are closed.
