National Emergency Grant (NEG)

Red River Flood Disaster Relief Employment Grant Fact Sheet (pdf)

The State of Minnesota has been awarded a $1.68 million National Emergency Grant to create temporary jobs to clean up public structures and land damaged by the spring floods in the Red River Valley.

The grant will provide up to $12,000 in wages to approximately 140 participants in the seven-county area included in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s initial disaster declaration for public assistance. Those counties include Traverse, Wilkin, Clay, Norman, Polk, Marshall and Kittson.

This grant will pay wages to workers who assist with cleanup of public structures and land, such as roads, bridges, parks and some buildings. Cities, counties and other units of government will be the primary employers.

People who live and work in the affected counties can go to their local WorkForce Center for more information. Find a WorkForce Center at www.PositivelyMinnesota.com or 1-888-GET-JOBS.
